Civil Service Miss Their Chance

K.C.C. Create A Good Impression

By "Adrem"

AS THERE WERE NO CAMPS OR OTHER MILITARY EXERCISES THAT I AM AWARE OF, IT IS RATHER UNUSUAL THAT SO FEW CRIC- KET MATCHES WERE PLAYED OVER THE WEEK-END.

In addition to the three Junior League games there were only three other fixtures. The Univer- sity match with I.R.C., was, of course, called off- early in the week owing to the fact that the Univer- sity cricket authorities were desirous of playing off the inter-faculty championship final in time for the presentation of trophies on Sunday.

League matches, in contrast to, Suffiad and M. R. Abbas being the recent batches of friendly games, most successful 1. R. C. batsmen, were not productive of high seor-and then Baxter proceeded to bat ing and all three had been decided right through the KC.C, innings long before time for drawing, to play a big part in the Kowloon stumps, which, incidentally is now club's success. Goodban also came 6 p.m., still, I think, a little late off with a bright 24 thus return- for this time of the year.

ing to form after long run of failures.

Civil Service almost covered themselves with glory when they dismissed Recreio for a miserable 66 but the splendid bowling of Stone, Smith and Ainslie, that youthful trio of former C. B. S. boys, was wasted as Civil Service in their turn to bat, could only muster 40.

Dreadful Wicket

I am told that the Civil Service wicket was dreadful and that pro- bably had as much as anything to do with the poor scores put to- gether by boʻli sides, but

ON "FAST" BOWLING!

Of the highest credit

theless Stone's feat of taking 5 for 30, including a hat-trick, is deserving of the Soares alone was able to offer anything like a front with the bat and if it had not been for his 31 I shudder to think what the Re- creio total would have been.

The Civil Service innings was just one long procession, Silva anð: Remedios having matters all their own way. Wa'son, however, made a great effort, to score almost half the Civil Service runs. I was told! by a member of the Recreio side that Hollidge

was shaping very well and it is practically certain would have been

KING'S SURPRISE CHUNG WAH

By "Adrem"

KING'S COLLEGE caused a big surprise in Junior Division of the Madminton League last night when they beat Chung Wah, hitherto highly fancied for the title, by the odd game in nine and thus estab. lished themselves as strong contenders for the cham- pionship.

King's actually, won the match. in the eighth game of the ever- ing, when S. P. Chan and W. C. Chung won their game to make the score in favour of King's 5—3.
