YUNNAN-BURMA
THAILAND SITUATION RAILWAY TO SERIOUS
As an indication of the. seriousness of the situa- tion between Thailand and Indo-China, it was announced to-day that, martial law had been en- forced all along the fron- tier since last night, states a report from Tokyo.
The report adds that Thailand's High Command has announced that Thailand forces, which cap- tured Poipet, advanced more than 30 kilometres within Indo-China territory.
All French nationals living in Thailand were asked to leave the places where they are now and come to live in special districts established in Bangkok or Dhon- buri within 72 hours, says another Japanese report.-Reuter,

Forced To Fight
While come small patrols may be able to slip out, the mais Italian garrison' will not be able to get away without putting up a fight. It is extremely unlike ly that any reinforcements will get through.
There is no indication of the size of the Tobruk garrison.
No Sign Of Reinforcements
No Italian troop movements have been detected by aircraft reconnoltring over the Tobruk area while the British Imperial forces are hourly closing in on the town.

Fights U-Boat
A spirited engagement between the British sub- marine "Tuna" and a U-boat on the surface in enemy waters by night was reported in an Ad- |miralty communique yes-
terday.
The U-boat made off at high speed after firing her gun imme- diately on encountering "Tuna" but "Tuna" gave chase and fired her after gun.
The U-boat was certainly hit on the conning-tower by one shell but unfortunately this cannot be considered vital damage.
For nearly an hour "Tuna" chased
only the enemy and broke off the engagement and dived when sighting escort vessels which came to the rea- cue of the damaged U-Boat. "Tuna" previously sunk an enemy armed tug by gunfire and in neither engagement did “Tuna" sustain any damage or casualties. |--Reuter.
