Compounds for dogs have been put up in Hyde Park,, London- fenced-in enclosures fitted with, stakes, chains and, leads so that dogs, which may not be taken into public shelters, can be cared for during raids.

This move has brought the thanks of the police, who formerly had stray dogs on their... hands when the "All clear" went, and now the National A.R.P. fór “Ani-. mals Committee are pressing the Office of Works for more. com- pounds in other public parks.
Shelters, too, are under consid- eration, but the greatest response in the appeal to care for pets dur- ing air raids has come from those householders who have put notices in their windows, saying: "You and your dog are welcome here during a raid."
Thousands of these placards have been distributed to animal lovers all over the country.
