DISCUSSING AT LENGTH the preparedness of the Philippines to meet foreign aggression, Major Gen. Basilio J. Valdes, chief of staff of the Philippine Army, assured the student body of the University of the Philippines that the military authorities are cog: nizant of the seriousness of their responsibilities and that everything is being done to provide an ade- quate national defence within the limited finances of the government.
