REPLYING FOR THE Government to the Debate on the Speech from the Throne in the House of Commons yesterday Mr. C. R. Att- ́lee addressed his remarks to Mr. James Max- ton, who proposed the amendment to the Speech and who covered the ground of his col- leagues' arguments with all his accustomed vehemence.
Mr. Attlee declared there was a funda mental fallacy throughout Mr. Maxton's speech. It was that there was a choice be- tween on one side, a terrible war, and on the
other, all the beauties of peace.
