Sir Atholl MacGregor, replying, said he was glad to hear what had been said on behalf of the "Telegraph."

re-

"When I saw the headline in question I decided that the case would be met by the few marks that I made publicly from this Bench yesterday, and I think I came to that decision very two reasons. The largely for Arst is that never in my seven years here have I had any 'cause for complaint whatsoever against any organ of the local Press. I have never had any reason to believe that anyone of them is intentionally vicious, and when- any- ever I asked them to do thing they have gladly done all they could to help me.

"The second reason is that I realised that in the present war- time conditions, things are not quite normal, that there must necessarily be a very great stress and strain on the sub-editors, and that things like this are unfor- tunately slipped in, without the Editor seeing them.

"I need only add that I very gladly accept your apology, and that there is no reason why we. should hear any more about this incident."

Mr. Potter: "Thank you my i Lord."

- Miss Arnold, of Thomson- and Co., Hong Kong Bank Building, has reported the loss of a wrist watch, valued at $80, between the Bank and Gloucester Building on? Monday.
