JAPAN TO RECOGNISE WANG THIS WEEK
Japan is expected formally to recognise the Wang Ching-wei regime on November '30 when, according to an official announce- ment in Shanghai, a
"'new Sino-Japanese
treaty" will be signed in Nanking.Reuter.
WHILE THE BULGARIAN Prime Minis- ter, M. Filoff, and Foreign Minister, M. Popoff, are reported to be speeding on the way to Berlin, Axis-inspired rumours suggest that Bulgaria will be the next country to sign the Tri-Partite Pact, says Reuter's diplomatic correspondent.
Already, the correspondent adds, the Ita- lian paper "Voce d'Italia" has declared: "Bul- garia has ranged herself on the side of the Axis powers, not as a neutral but as a belli- gerent."
"
This may be premature, for event though Bulgaria, through threats or blandishments, feels itself im- 0000000pelled to join the "new order," it does not mean the country will at once be used as a corridor for Ger- man troops aiding Italy.
FRENCH VOLUNTEERS
The Turkigh attitude ro- garding the passage of troops! through Bulgaria has been made perfectly clear and the recent security measures taken in that country show she is ful- ly prepared to defend her vital

Trivial Success
Signing of the Tri-Partite Pact by Hungary, Rumania and "inde- pendent" Slovakia has made no appreciable change on the situa-¦ ̈ tion, 'while the mountain of Nazi speculation and hope following M. Molotov's visit to Berlin has pro- duced a very small' mouse of di- plomatic achievement, for the only three countries, which have sign- ed-on with the Axis are those which are already completely do- minated by Nazł influence or Nazi arms.
In the meantime, Yugoslav re- sistance to the Axis is, stiffening as a result of the Italian defeat in Greece and it seems certain that Yugoslafin would resist any Ita- lian incursion.
Moscow's Silence
German participation would be regarded much more seriously but even then it is unlikely“, she will allow herself to be drawn passive- ly into the Axis yoke.
Russia's attitude, as always, remains enigmatic. The same complete silence is also being maintained in Moscow for the change in Ambassadors in Berlin.
