SUICIDE BY HOME GUARD
A 55-year-old quartermaster in Erie Godwin, the Home Guard, of Christchurch Avenue, Brondes- bury, who shot himself with a rifle at the local headquarters, was stated at the Kilburn inquest to have been in considerable financial difficulties.
A sister said that Godwin had not completely recovered from a sovere attack of influenza early in the year.
In a letter to his solicitor, God- win had said that he intended to take his life.
The Coroner' recorded, a verdict of “Suicide while the balance of mind was disturbed."
