GERMAN CLAIMS IN COMMUNIQUE
SUCCESSES BY LAND and sea were claimed in a German High Command communique broadcast yesterday, the first item of which was a report by a German auxiliary cruiser operating in overseas waters that she has sunk up to date 52,000 tons of enemy merchant shipping.
It is claimed that "reprisal" attacks on London and other centres continued with effect on numerous towns, industrial plants, hanbours, railways and aerodromes in southern England.
It adds that on seven bases of the RIA.F. direct hits were scored. destroying hangars, barracks and numerous 'planes on the ground.
Harbour and industrial installa- tions were also hit on the west coast.
An attack on a convoy be- tween north-west Ireland and the Scottish coast is claimed "by a bomber which made a dash- ing dive attack on the strongly protected convoy."!
Describing night raids over
ed several houses
in north and
Germany and occupied territory the communique says these have proved "particularly costly to the enemy owing to our effective A.A. fire. Enemy bombs destroy- north-west Germany and killed several civilians. Enemy attempts installations remained without ef fect. Enemy losses yesterday amounted to 16 'planes; three of ours failed to return from flights over enemy territory."
