SPITFIRE AND Hurricane pilots spent the whole of yesterday searching the skies over south-eastern England for elusive cloud-dodg- ing single enemy bombers.
Despite the difficulties there have been many duels and at least five raiders have been hit by fighter bullets, two having been seen to crash.

The bomber's dive became slower and the Hurricane fol- lowed it down till it crashed into the sea and disappeared.

The two N.C.O.'s reached the. spot on the sea before any boat arrived and made every effort in the oily water to rescue: the occu pants of the 'plane. although in this they were not successful.
The four privates were on duty on the coast when the 'plane crashed into the sea. They swam in the darkness, found and res- cued an R.A.F. sergeant, who had come down by parachute and was in difficulties.

The following com- munique was issued at Brenner following the meeting of the Axis Dicta- tors:
