AND NOW--LAWN BOWLS! "Skip" Suggests Volunteer Inter-Unit Competition
ENOUGH TALENT
FOR 16 TEAMS
SOME WEEKS AGO the "China Mail" cricket correspondent, “Adrem", outlined a scheme for a Volunteer inter-unit cricket competition and as I have an idea that lawn bowls has now quite as large a local following as the English national game, I have investigated the possibilities of a lawn bowls knock-out competition.
Feelers that I have put out among some of the units have all met with a favourable or perhaps I should say most enthusiastic response. I have also been able to obtain a list of potential bowlers, which is printed below, and from which it will be! seen that 18 teams of two rinks each could well take part.
seems
That number of ~rinks adequate as it allows some units! to enter which could not do so were a larger number of players| called for. I fully realise that the International Shield has still to be played off, and will take, two or three Sundays and also that cric-} ket, not to mention Volunteer duties, may interfere, but I feel that these obstacles could be over-] come by means of a little co- operation between the Units..
The question of grounds, would, 1 feel sure, prove one which would not chuse any....anxiety.
