Indo-China Government, according to a Ta Kung Pao dispatch from Chung- king.
These are the passage of 100, 000 Japanese troops to the French Indo-China-Yunnan border and the use of the Hanoi-Dongdang route.
The French, however, are said to permit only 12,000 Japanese troops to land and pass through Haiphong, Hanoi and Laokay. Dongdang is to be used only as a transit centro: for Japanese mili- cary supplies.
ac-
Admiral De Coux, it is stated, insists that French Indo-China should adopt "Independent tion" in the present crisis whe
her it be resistance, submission or semi-submission. · Competent observers believe that the French authorities will most probably adopt the last measure.
Chinese official circles indicate
that if Japanese troops are sent
nto French Indo-China, Chinese triops will cross the Yunnan bor- der for self-defence as previously announced.
A Hanoi report says that owing to the present rainy season, large- scale Japanese military operations may have to be postponed to the |þeginning of October. Most of the highways in French Indo-China are now muddy.-Central News,
