The big upset of the evening, points. in a pool which all the visiting members appeared to find some difficulty in accustoming them selves,, was the decisive defeat of the Colony champion. D. H. Taylor, by Hutchinson. It la probable that Taylor's missed first turn contributed to final result but this must detract from the excellence Hutchinson's showing. Reaching the turn at least yard ahead of the rest of the field, Hutchinson maintained af cracking pace throughout to fin-l ish at least a body's length inl front of Tsang Cheung-ming, who beat Taylor into second place.

Chan won the event by half a length of the bath.-
Miss Vivienne Churn maintain- ed her reputation as Hong Kong's premier lady swimmer when she showed a clean pair of heels to the other competitors in the 50 yards free style. Miss Weir also swam very well in this event and was only yard behind the winner, although finishing third.

The 120, yards medley relay was one of the most thrilling events of the evening, A. K. Rumjahn (backstroke) only managed to secure a slight advantage
over
Lau Yiu-ting, which Hutchinson (breast) lost to Fong Chung-yue.| Taylor, however, was at his best over the last 40 yards and just secured the first place.
