"Butterfly" Breast- BIG GALA AT NEW ARMY POOL
Stroke Receives Official Sanction
LADIES TO HAVE SIX NEW EVENTS FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIPS
A REVOLUTIONARY MEASURE was decided upon at a meeting of Victoria Recreation Club held recently when it was decided to recognise the “but- terfly" mode of swimming in connection with the breast-stroke.
This will almost certainly re- sult in the record for the 100 yards breast-stroke championship toppling this year as, although the local swimmer has not de- veloped the "butterfly" to a fine art as yet, there are several ex- ponents of the stroke, who - havėj already shown that with the new stroke they are capable of beat- ing swimmers using the old form fewer than four of propulsion.
