MindanaoToMeetBrewers In What Should Be The "Battle Of The Century"

SAPPERS AND SOUTH CHINA TO FIGHT.

FOR CELLAR POSITION

By "Grandstand"

WITH THE Mindanao-Hongkong Brewery tussle to-morrow top-notching a full programme for the week-end, baseball bugs are again promised some real entertainment at Caroline Hill.

This afternoon South China cross bats with Royal Engineers in a return encounter which should be worth watching. It will be recalled that two weeks ago Nam Hwa humbled the Sappers, 17-11, after a six-run rally in the last frame.

CHINESE BASKETBALL

By "Sportshawk” Two matches in "B" Division of the All-Chin- ese Colony Basketball League were played before a fairly large crowd last night at Hong Kong Chin- ese Y.M.C.A.

After a very close and keen con- test, Lee Hang Club beat Kong Yuen Club by the odd. point in 103. The winners were leading at the end of the first half by 26 points to 23.

They were best served by their guard, Yur Kam-sang, whose steady defence was worthy of mention, while his powerful and accurate shooting earned nine fleld goals (18 points) for his side. Chan Hau-yuen and Chan Chau- kwai, both playing in the attack, also registered six and five field goals respectively.

For the losers, Sum. Ping-kueh, Chau Fook-han, both in attack, in defence, and Kui Wing-fook,

were very sound and played
