RUMANIA PLAYING GERMAN GAME AGAINST BRITAIN

THE RUMANIAN Government has taken action against British oil interests in Rumania which is likely to lead to sharp representa- tions.

Reuter's Bucharest correspondent says that the Rumanian Oil Commission has ap- pointed a "Controller" to "supervise the affairs" of Astra Romana, the biggest oil un- dertaking in Rumania.

Astra Romana is owned by British and Dutch interests.

The step has been taken follow- ing allegations that the Company

failed to supply the Commission PAYMENT

with the required details of their operations.
