FIGHT FANS UNDERWENT SOME PERIL TO-DAY'S IN THE OLD GAS-LIT BOXING ERA

Historic Bare-Fist Fight For "World Title"

Sheriff And Twenty Armed Deputies Could Do Nothing

IF SOME OF the old Pittsburgh, Pa., fistic fans were alive to-day, they could tell of many a thrilling bare knuckle fight and adventure that took place on the historic old battleground at Collier's Station, West Virginia.

.It was a favourite spot for the old Pittsburghers, especially to pull off a fierce, bloody mill there half a century ago, chiefly because it was just across the state line of Pennsylvania and Ohlo, and the mobs who attended the old slaughtering fights could usually make their escape into either of the latter states, if the West Virginia authorities were too hot on their trail.

What tales Johnny Newell, Old Tom Gin, was an old, battle!
