COURT SEQUEL TO DEFALCATION

AT THE SUPREME COURT THIS MORNING BEFORE THE CHIEF JUSTICE, SIR ATHOLL MACGREGOR, MESSRS. HANG YUE-HING, A FIRM OF IMPORTERS AND EXPORTERS, OBTAINED JUDGMENT AGAINST WONG CHIU-CHUEN THEIR FORMER MANAGER, IN RES- PECT OF $3,000, AMOUNT OF MONEY RECEIVED BY DEFENDANT AS MANAGER OF PLAINTIFF FIRM AND FOR USE OF PLAINTIFFS.

Bien Kohshivongs, 21, student of St. Stephen's College, native of Thailand, was charged before Mr. R. Edwards this morning, with failing to report his departure from the Colony on July 23 last year.

Sergeant Mann said defendant went to the Registration Office yesterday, and registered his arrival from Bang- kok. When his record was checked, it was found that he did not report his departure last year.

A fine of $10 was imposed. Ishikawa Hajime, 30, was charged with entering the Colony without a valid passport.

Sergeant Mann asked for a week's remand for further enquiries,

Plaintiffs were also given an order for the attachment of defendant's!! share in a Tea House in Lai Chi-kok. Wong Yue-kwong, the present man- ager of Plaintiff firm, was appointed receiver on $6,000 guarantee being given.

Mr. D. J. N. Anderson, instructed by Mr. F. G. Nigel, was for the plaintiffs.

Mr. Anderson said that the plain- tiffs were an import and export firm with head offices in Singapore and branches in Hong Kong and Kunming.

Defendant was formerly manager of the Hong Kong branch. On May 7 defendant wrote to the principal part- ners admitting that he had embezzled certain sums of money amounting to nearly $30,000. One sum of $3,000 was from the Sze Hong-tong bank, and this was the subject of the pre- sent case.
