New York, To-day. The French Foreign Minis- ter, M. Baudoin, broadcasting from Bordeaux last night, said: "We are ready to lay down our arms if we can get an honourable peace but we are never ready to accept shameful conditions which would mean the end of spirit- ual freedom for our people.".

M. Baudoin declared that in any choice France always chooses honour in preference to everything else,

THE FRENCH ARMY WAS STILL FIGHTING AT 5:30 LAST EVENING, ACCORDING TO THE FRENCH MILITARY SPOKESMAN QUOTED BY THE CO- LUMBIA BROADCASTING COMPANY'S REPRE- SENTATIVE, BROADCASTING FROM BOR- DEAUX.
