ATTEMPTS TO LAND Nazi spies in Great Britain from enemy bombers have become known.
Suspicions of the authorities were] aroused when recently the crew of a four-seater Nazi
bomber shot down
over the coast was found to number five.
The fifth German was evidently not an airman. He spoke English without effort and could have passed scrutiny in an average crowd of Britons.
The difficulty of landing anyone ̈undetected in Britain would not be insuperable, although attended by many dangers. Less likely to be suc- cessful would be a surprise attack by parachutists armed with automatic rifles and equipment for a short cam- paign.
Steps were taken at the outbreak of war to anticipate such a move, and armed detachments are dispersed over the country to guard against it.

America's War Department has perfected plans for the transportation of United States troops from New York Harbour to Europe or else- where.
This disclosure was made by Mr. George Randall, head of the general committee of port traffic on the As- sociation of American Railways, at hearing of the Interstate Commerce Commission in New York.

Mr. Randall sald that plans had been perfected for the "possible transportation, of troops." The subject was dropped quickly no direct bearing on because it had the matter under discussion.
