first Ambassador of the Wang Ching- wei "government" to Japan, according to reliable quarters.

Yin was chairman of the defunct East Hopei Autonomous Government and retired from the political scene when the Peiping provisional govern- ment was established.

The nomination was approved by General Itagaki and formal notice will be issued shortly by the Nanking "government."-Havas.

Traffic Sub-Inspector F. J. Clarke said that at about 11.15 p.m. on May 28, private car No. 6515 was travell- ing along Gloucester Road from east to west and knocked down a Chinese woman, Leung Fung-ming. The car continued on. Five people saw the accident.

Mr. Ford said that his client was not aware of the accident otherwise he would not have driven away.

A fine of $250 was imposed.

CHENGTE ROAD ATTACKED

Two batches of Japanese bombers attacked the Chengte road yesterday morning a few miles west of Chung- king.

As a sequel to the previous day's raid, people disappeared from the streets as soon as the first alarm sounded. The all clear went at 11.55 a.m.-Havas.
