Wider wartime requisitioning pow- ers are granted the Union Govern- ment by new regulations under the Defence Act contained in a "Gazette! Extraordinary."

Officers of the defence force and public services are authorised to take possession in time of war of buildings and other premises, supplies of food- stuffs and forage, horses and other transport animals, vehicles and all other articles which may be necessary to maintain in the field "the defence forces or any portion thereof and all other of his Majesty's forces acting in co-operation therewith."
