RED CROSS ATTACKED

"IT WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT," SAID THE HEAD OF A CONVOY OF FIVE AMERICAN RED CROSS AMBULANCES WHICH WERE AT- TACKED ON THE WESTERN FRONT BY GERMAN 'PLANES.

Two of the ambulances were des- troyed, despite the fact that they all displayed the Red Cross and the Stars and Stripes. One volunteer is said to be missing.

A German 'plane directed artillery fire on the ambulances, the ambulance crews claim.-Reuter.
