A BRILLIANT EFFORT on the anchor lap of the relay by Lam Kwok-leung of Wah Yan, who closed a long gap on Castro of St. Joseph's and forged ahead to win, gave Wah Yan College its first Inter-School title and the Governor's Shield at the Caroline Hill Stadium yesterday.

though, that produced the major surprise of the afternoon.
Kwok Chi-hung of St. Stephen's, who holds the inter-school record of 9 feet 11 inches, failed to survive the eliminating heights in the final and did not place in the first three. The event was won by Fong Chi-St. Paul's College hung of Wah Yan, better known as a high jumper, who had spent the early part of the day in bed, a victim of
malaria.
YUE'S FINE EFFORT
Fong Chi-hung did not do so well later in the afternoon in his specialty, when he failed to better 5 feet 6% inches, to tie for second place with Poon Sai-on of King's. Wolfgang Yue of St. Stephen's, who just cleared the bar with every jump, barely wriggled over at 5 feet 7 inches to win.
