Japanese Naval Spokesman's Statement
Tokyo, To-day. "The Japanese Navy feels grave concern for the maintenance of the status quo in the Dutch East Indies because any change in the status quo of those Islands, as a result of the European war, would mean expansion of the conflict to this part of the world," said a Navy Office spokesman. "To this, the Japanese Navy has the strongest objection particularly in view of Japan's national policy of standing out of the European war.
