THE HAT-TRICK
SCORING FOUR RUNS for Volunteer Officers against Mr. M. P. Weedon's XI at Kowloon Cricket Club yesterday, T. A. Pearce, the Hong Kong Cricket Club skipper, just reached his 1,000 runs for the season.

He is the second batsman to accom- plish this feat, first being D. J. N. of K.C.C., who made a further 55 yesterday. Sgt. Denyer, is well within striking distance, having passed the 900 mark some weeks ago, but he has struck a bad patch and has not made a decent score for some time.
Apart from Pearce's 1,000 runs, feature of yesterday's match was a hat-trick by Pte. Hatfield, the second. of the week-end, M. R. Abbas have .accomplished the first in either divi- sion of the League whilst playing for I.R.C. against Civil Service on Satur- day. Hatfield took the wickets of McLellan, Walker and Stout with successive balls.
Hatfield was presented with the ball .with which he did the hat-trick after the match by Lt-Col E. J. R. Mit- chell, who led the Volunteer Officers, in a brief ceremony in the pavilion.

FAST TIME
T. K. L.'s Oonagh (Mr. P. P. Botel- ho up) turned in the fastest China pony time. this season for a mile and 171 yards when it won the Kongmun Handicap by threequarters of a length from Johnber in 2.06.1. The pervious best was 2.08.4 by Mrs. Dunbar's Bear Claw (Mr. D. Black) on the fifth day of the Annual Meeting.

COMPLETE HEAVY WEEK'S PROGRAMME
FIELDING A WEAK team, Club did remarkably well to only lose by the odd goal in five against Eastern in their postponed First Division soccer game on Club ground yesterday.
