Fighter Command Loses Proud Record;

SERIOUS CLASH IN RHODESIA
Ndola (Northern Rhodesia),
To-day.
Ten natives.. were killed. nine seriously injured and 20 wounded: when troops fired on native strikers in the Nkana concession of the Luangwa district of Northern Rhodesia yesterday...
The trouble started when 3,000 strikers sought to interfere with 150 other natives while they were draw- ing their pay.
The police tried to disperse the strikers with tear-gas bombs but as thie was ineffective the fired a few rounds.

TWO MORE GERMAN PLANES SHOT DOWN OFF BRITISH COAST

AN R.A.F. 'PLANE SHOT DOWN a German raider off the north-east coast of Britain yesterday, and it is now. known that a Heinkel attacked by our fighters came down into the sea.

This brings the total number of German 'planes destroyed in coastal raids to 51, apart from over a dozen which, it is thought, were so badly damaged they were unable to get home.
The Nazis are thought to have lost another 'plane in a further raid Scapa Flow on Tuesday night.

The Admiralty announced, following the raid, that the Nazi raiders had : been driven off by gunfire from ship and shore batteries, that no ship was hit or damaged, and that one bomb fell on the shore.
Yesterday morning, the German High Command issued its usual claim of having hit or damaged several British warships, but it is noted in London that, following a recent change in their policy, the Germans did not announce the names of
the ships "hit.""
This, it is taken, was in fear lest the ships they had "sunk or damag- ed" should be seen cruising: uncon- cernedly shortly afterwards!—Reuter.

London, To-day. Great activity at present is being displayed by the Nazi Propaganda Minister, Dr. Goebbels, according to the official German radio.
Following Tuesday's discussions with district leaders of the German propaganda system, Dr. Goebbels yes- terday saw wireless officials of the. State and Nazi party.
