ARMY SPORTLIGHT
By "SQUADDY"
A very keen and thrilling
encoun-
ter took place in the Small Units' Rugby League on Wednesday between R.A.M.C. and Signals. The game was .evenly contested throughout and it was rather unfortunate that Major Curran of the Medicals' team had to leave the field through an injured leg before the game was 10 minutes in progress.
The absence of this Ane forward upset the balance of the Medicals team and did much to account for
their defeat by 6 points to nil. Willis opened the scoring for the Signals with a fine try just inside the dead line. The referee hesitated a few moments over his decision owing to the bad mark- ing of the dead line but he ruled that it was just inside and a awarded to Signals.

Both sides exerted greater pressure after this and Lt. Coombes almost got right through with a fine burst but was brought down just in time. Minney was also putting in some good work for the Medicals but did not seem to be backed up sufficiently at the critical moments.

Saigon Meet Federation In Last Game Of Series
IMPORTANT THIRD DIVISION
TIE THIS AFTERNOON
OWING to the late arrival of the Interport Soccer team
from Shanghai, two First Division games have been TO-DAY'S
cancelled, while owing to the uncertainty of the sailing of the Saigon team, they will now meet the Federation to-day instead of to-morrow.
goals to 1 during the week at Macao Saigon did well to beat Macao by 4
and are hoping to give a good display this afternoon.
They will be fielding their best team and with the rest of several days should do well.
Federation will be without Lee Wal- tong but have chosen a well-balanced side. Chan Tak-fal will lead the at- tack and will be supported by Cheung Kam-hol and Fung King-cheong.
A good game should be witnessed at Kowloon between Kowloon and Middlesex; the former will be with- out Maxwell, who is with the -Inter- port team.
The Medicals were getting the ball out of the scrum far oftener than the Signals but whichever side did man- age to get it out found difficulty in putting the advantage to the proper
VITAL MATCH use; the Medicals through fumbling,
A very important and Signals through over-eagerness game will be played this afternoon Third Division to kirk instead of putting the ball
'back.
I/Cpl. Bedford of the Signals, who played a fine game throughout, was responsible for the second try, just managing to get onto the ball in time after a dribble over the line by the forwards.
Neither trys were
converted and
once again the Signals' need of a kleker was emphasised. After this try the Medicals put all they knew into it but Signals hung on grimly and managed to hold them out, although .one of MacDonald's fine dashes
nearly caught them napping.

BEST for Signals were Willis, Morgan and L/Cpl. Bedford although everyone played well and they seem- ed the fitter team. The inexperienced must learn not to pick the ball out of the pack however. There is trouble in that direction. Medicals were best served by Minnay, Lt. Coombes, Chandler, MacDonald and Wybroe. The latter got a nasty jolt during the second half but hung on grimly till the end.
.As Signals won this game by 0 points to nil they combine with the 24th Bty. R.A. and the Medicals in having won one game each. R.A.S.C. have yet to play a fixture but will commence with a match against the Medicals on Sunday:
Following are results to date:-

when International and 24th R.A. clash. A win for the Gunners will practically give them the champion- ship, while if International win they will make the League more interest- ing and return to the running for the title,
