MAIN football attractions during the week-end were the games in which the Saigon team were concern- ed and which resulted in victories for the local teams,
Saigon were hopeful of doing very well during their stay here and repeat the performances of 1938, when, at the invitation of South China Athletic As- sociation they lost only one game and drew once in five played in the Colony.

team returns from Shanghai to-morrow after doing their best in the Northern port. They lost, but it was not expected that they would hold Shanghal to such a small score. Their performance is an answer to those critics who doubted the advisability of sending a team North.
The Interport has been described as one of the worst for several years, but Hong Kong was
not totally responsible for that state of affairs. Admittedly Hong Kong did not send their strongest team for various rea- sons, but after the Colony's perfor- mances, one cannot think highly of the standard of football at present in Shanghai. While the Interport games, both in Shanghai and Hong Kong, seemed to have been enjoyed by both players and most spectators, the re-
ports seem ferees in both come in for some adverse criticism by certain sections.

THE REFEREES
The first goal against Hong Kong in Shanghai was alleged to have been scored from an offside position, while in the game against Lido, the Chinese equalised several minutes after time should have been blown.
In Hong Kong, several alleged pen- alties were not seen by the referee in while a little tact the first game, might have been used by the official in the game against South China con- cerning the second goal.

this week-end. It is understood that Eastern are making desperate efforts for all their matches to be played off before April 15 when they leave for Manila.
They still have seven League games to play which include two postponed games, and possibly have three shield games if they reach the Final of the Senior Shield, making in all 10 games. and all to be played within the next eight weeks.
Eastern have always been very me- ticulous about their Home games and it is hardly reasonable to expect that to play away teams whom, they are will be willing to make any sacrifice as regards gate receipts, by playing midweek games, just to oblige Eas- tern to leave Hong Kong in time.
