FINLAND'S URGENT

Volunteer Decision Approved In

London, To-day.

MOST OF YESTERDAY morning's British press dealt with Finland, and the news that British subjects may enlist for service with the Finnish Army has been welcomed on all sides as just and wise.

Finland's urgent need for help is stressed by "The Times," "Daily Telegraph" and "Daily Herald.” "The Finns are overwhelmed," says the "Daily Herald."

"The Times" says that the Soviets have concentrated

on the Karelian Isthmus a force more than equal to the whole army available for the defence of all frontiers in Finland.

Although Soviet losses so far have been 50 to 1 Finn, this cannot be maintained once the Finns try to re- capture fortified outposts now in enemy hands. Also, the Finns have only a small reserve to relieve men in the fighting lines.

BREATHING SPACE

The "Dally Telegraph" says that if the Finns can hold out during the next few, vital weeks, they may be able to gain breathing space to rest their troops and prepare for the big offensive of the summer. If they get

AUSTRALIAN TROOPS WELL TRAINED

Jerusalem, To-day. The Australian troops now serving in Palestine are said to be

remarkably wall trained, though there is no compulsory service in the Dominion.

Most of them belong to the Mi- Iltia, which now included 100,000 men, together with the 8ixth Division, which is stationed in the Near East.
