F. P. Höllls,>of U.S.S. Mindanao, as finished up the month of January by keeping his Ten Phas record of 252 which he made on January 1, But there is no doubt that it was a very clore "shave" for him when Private R. H. Tida, of R.A.M.O., chalked up 248. It was truly a great effort, his bag being as follows:- spare, strike spare, a miss on the fourth frame to make 9, and then striking out (8 strikes in a row).

Had he registered a strike in his fourth frame instead of a miss, he would not only have beaten Hollis's 252 but would have beaten the Alleys' record of 289, made by J. T. Sheehan of Mindanao in November last.

Tidd's finishing up with eight strikes was well worth witnessing; all were clean cut, and had no element of joss about them,

of

THE Semi-Final the Singles

Handicap Competition between M. F. L. Haymes and R. H. Tidd will be played off to-day at 5.30 p.m., and in my opinion it will be a very close match.

Haymes's handicap is plus 25 while Tidd is plus 17, therefore as it is a five game match Tidd is actually con- ceding to Haymes eight pins per game or 40 pins in all.

J. H. Watts, of Royal Signals, is the the date for other semi-finalist, and

the Final will be early date.
