Colony Interport Soccer XI To Be Selected In Shanghai

GROUND CONDITIONS TO BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION

(By "REFEREE")

"HE Final line-up of the soccer team to represent the Co- lony in the Interport in Shanghai has been left to A. V. Gosano, captain and manager of the team, and will be de- cided on the day of the match when ground conditions in Shanghai will be taken into account.

Following are candid sketches of| T. Castilho.-A useful reserve, can the players making the trip:

Moxham.-A goalkeeper discovered by the Army selectors, has done well in all League games, and recently for the Army. Handles safely and is not afraid of meeting an oncoming for- ward.

A. Bone. A back who is weak in his clearances at times but who can

play equally well at right-half as or the right-wing Main fault is his ten- dencly to trick an opponent before centring thus often allowing the op- posing defence to cover up.

Fox. The Sappers' marksman, he first played in a representative game recently, against Navy. A hard work- er who can take the ball on the run

On a heavy ground should do well.

A. J. Hussain.-Originally chosen as right-half, but not impressive in the intermediate line and better suited to full-back berth. A willing worker though slightly erratic in his clear-

ances.

Forrow. Really a centre-half but who has shown in the last Lai Wah Cup game and again on Wednesday that he can be of great use in the at- tack. Is ก worker.

A. V. Gosano.—A player at home in every position on the field and has the unique honour of being the only manager-captain of an Interport soccer

side.

Guy. A half-back "spotted" only recently, he is a natural pivot but is now adapting himself to the wing-half position.

Leonard.--A forward who is a trier but who easily gets discouraged. Has lost some of his former speed but can play a good game at back.

E. Strange. A half-back or a for- ward, he seems to have lost touch with great trier and hard-forward line play and has done well

in defence recently,

Honniball--A half-back or left- winger. Has developed rapidly since taking up the wing-half position. Has shown consistently good form this sea- son and plays well on the wing.

McEwan.-A wing-half of the solid type and a useful reserve. Not specta- cular but accomplishes his task well.

Only Three Interporters

Maxwell.-Youngster of the side, having recently left school, he has plenty of football in him. Is still in- | played for Hong Kong against Shang- experienced but can always be de- pended on to put up a good show. A willing learner.
