They announce that a U-boat on Tuesday attacked a con- voy and sank the 5,000-ton British steamer Vaclite, whose crew were rescued by an Italian ship. The naval escort immediately hunted the submarine and dropped depth charges, but after a time con- tact was lost.

NEW NAZI "WEAPON" AT SEA

The skipper of the Grimsby trawler Russell, which was attacked by German aircraft on Tues- day, on arrival home yes- terday stated that in ad- dition to incendiary bombs the plane dropped what looked like hun- dreds of darts.
They all missed the ship and fell into the sea.
The skipper added that small fires occurred on deck but were extinguished and the trawler arrived safely back in port.
