UNIFIED COMMAND OF ROYAL AIR FORCE IN FRANCE
London, To-day.
IT IS OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED from No. 10, Downing Street, that an Air Force Command, to include all units of the R.A.F. in France, is to be formed.
It will be designed "The British air forces in France," and will be under the command of the Air Officer Command- ing-in-Chief, who will also be responsible, in consulta- tion with the Army Commander-in-Chief concerned for ensuring the most effective support by the British air forces for the British Expeditionary Force and the French armies on the western front.
In conjunction with the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the French air forces, he will also be responsible for co-ordinating the operations of the air force in France with those of the French air force.
The above arrangement involves no change in principle governing the relationship between the army and air force.
It is based on an analogy of the existing relationship between the Royal Navy and the Coastal Com- mand of the R.A.F., and will ensure
