taken over the police of South-West Africa in CONTROL April, the world war might have broken out not in Poland but in South Africa, declared General Smuts, the Premier, in a speech to his consti- tuents here yesterday.
General Smuts added that but for the Government's quick action an outbreak of war might have oc- curred on the borders of South Africa.
