London, To-day. There now seems to be con- siderable doubt about whether the commander or officers of the Graf Spee died with the ship.

According to a Buenos Aires report, a boat from an Argentine cruiser has picked up the captain and chief officers of the battle- ship. Reuter.

(This report may possibly mean that the boat has picked up the bodies).

Montevideo, To-day. The Graf Spee is sunk in feet of water in the main anchor- age, where she will be a serious hindrance to port traffic.

There is great indignation here at this action. Many think that there will be an incident between the two countries because it is thought that the Graf Spee acted under orders from Berlin.

As the Graf Spee settled down, escaping fuel oil caught fire and enveloped the superstructure in flames and an immense surface of the sea was illuminated. The fre burned itself out at 9.28

p.m. when a little of the battleship was showing above water.

The dramatic effect of the flames was enhanced by constant explo- sions as the fire, which was also burning under water reached the shells. Reuter.

Local Chinese banking circles were greatly perturbed to-day when Government ordered sus- pension of the sale of China Na- tional Saving Certificates in the Colony.

Permission for sale of these certificates was given to certain Chinese banks about a month ago. The Overseas Chinese Banking Corporation were the principal agents.

Questioned by the "China Mail" this afternoon, Mr. H. R. Butters, acting Financial Secretary, firmed that the sale was morning ordered to be stopped.

"Owing to various legal difficul- ties which were not noticed at the beginning, Government has stop- ped the sale of the certificates. The matter is under considera- tion," stated Mr. Butters.
