THE GERMANS NOW CLAIM that in Thursday's dog-fight over the North Sea, 20 British 'planes took part and of these 10 were shot down. One German report puts the German losses at—one! In actual fact, of course, the number of British bombers in the battle was 12, of which three failed to return. At the same time, 4 Messersch- midts were shot down, the latter including one of the new two-engined models.

The British bombers were flying at an altitude of only about 100 feet, un- der low, murky clouds. They sight- ed, and attacked, a small fleet sisting of a German warship, a cruis- er, some destroyers and a submarine.
The German warships opened up with all their anti-aircraft guns.
