Another Battle Possible: Admiral Scheer In Vicinity
DASH TO ESCAPE BY GRAF SPEE VIOLENT PREDICTED
LONDON, TO-DAY.
SOUTH AMERICAN NEWS DESPATCHES REPORTING THAT A SE- COND GERMAN POCKET-BATTLESHIP, THE ADMIRAL SCHEER, IS IN THE VICINITY OF THE ARGENTINE COAST, AND MAY SEEK TO CREATE A DIVERSION TO PERMIT THE ESCAPE OF THE AD- MIRAL GRAF SPEE, HAVE CAUSED SPECULATION ON THE POS- SIBILITY OF ANOTHER BIG NAVAL ACTION.
It seems certain that the Admiral Graf Spee will make a bid to escape. How long she is to be permitted to stay in Montevideo is not yet known, but it is stated that a time limit of 72 hours has now been fixed by the Uruguayan Government. This time limit is said to be the result of a report by the Uruguayan naval authorities, who state that while her armament and superstructure is badly shattered, there is no doubt that she is navigable.
SHORTER HOURS FOR H.K. LABOUR?
If she could enter Montevideo un- der full power, she is capable of leav- ing under full power.
Yesterday, she was taking on supplies of fuel, indicating the in- tention of her commander to at.. tempt to elude the Allied warships on the watch for her outside.
