MOTORIST FINED
A fine of $5 was imposed on a mo- torist, G. Petrequin, of Kadooric Avenue, by Mr. R. A. D. Forrest this morning, for causing an obstruction in Fleming Road near the Oriental Theatre.
Proposing the adoption of the re- port and accounts, Mr. Dodwell said:-
The company's position as shown by the accounts before you to-day is, I am pleased to say, more satisfactory than that reported last year. Unfor- tunately, however, the political situa- tion in Canton still had a detrimental effect period under review.
upon our trading during the
You will observe that the profit on working account amounts to $15,719.26 as compared with $690.02 last year. This increase is due primarily to re- venue derived from the storage of dry goods as distinct from our cold Storage business. Ice sales for the period at 698.067 tons shown a slight increase over those for
last year. Certain economies have also been cffected to bring about the result.
SHAKEN BY EXPLOSIONS
In the profit and loss account, the charge for repairs and renewals is in excess of the figure charged last year and much of the expenditure under this heading was necessitated by the shaking the machinery and buildings suffered from nearby explosions dur- ing the hostilities in Canton.
Depreciation has been provided on scale commensurate with that for past years and is considered by your directors to be sufficient at the Agure of $14,829.82. I trust you will ap-

Referring to the balance sheet, I would mention that the addition dur- ing the year of $1,599.82 to machinery and Ice stores represents the cost of the foundation for the new oil engine purchased last year and the construc- tion of an ice tank of 4% tons capacity for emergency use during hostilities regard to our restricted business. The and for economical operation having. small addition of $130.00 to Furniture and Fixtures is for two electric fans.
I regret to report that in May last some damage was done to our No. 1 Compressor which is still out of com- mission. It is not intended meantime to have this repaired until the position in Canton is more settled. Otherwise the plant and machinery is in good- condition. Your buildings are in good state of preservation and have been> redecorated during the year.
NETT RESULT
The net result for the year is a loss of $39.44 which, under the very ad- verse circumstances, must I think be considered as not unsatisfactory.
The following resolutions were pass-- ed unanimously:
That the report and accounts for the year be adopted and passed. Pro- posed by Mr. S. H. Dodwell, seconded" by Mr. G. Sewell.
That Messrs. T. E. Pearce and Ho Kam Tong be re-elected directors of the company. Proposed by Mr. W. L. Alexander, seconded by Mr. B. C.. Tavadla.
That Messrs. Percy Smith, Seth and Fleming be re-elected auditors for the ensuing year at an annual remunera- tion of $350. Proposed by Mr. T. E Pearce, seconded by Mr. Ho Kam Tong.
