FOR THE 'GIRLS LEFT BEHIND'
As his part in the war, the Rev. George Tuohy, Vicar of St. Faith's,
opening Brentford, Middlesex, is
a
club called The Girls They Left. Be- hind Them Club.
It is for mothers, wives, sisters and the sweethearts of men serving in Forces and doing National Service.
"We had a similar club during the last war," the Vicar told the press. "It was a great comfort to lonely women. Some men now going away to fight were brought to my clubs as babies in arms during the last war.'
"I have offered to do any type of national service but my Bishop says that my place is here, at home.
"We shall have teas, music, games and concerts at the club and there will no charge.”
CHRISTIAN SCIENCE
LESSON SERMON Subject: "Mortals
And 'Immortals"
morrow,
The Subject of the Lesson Sermon in all Christian Science Churches, to- November 12th will be "Mortals and Immortals." --The Golden Text will be:-"Hence- forth know we no man after the flesh," (11 Cor. 5:16),
Among others the following cita- tions will be read from the Bible:- "For in him we live, and move, and have our being: as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh forth like'a flow- er, and is cut down; he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not." (Acts. 17:28; Job. 14:1, 2).
The following citations will also be read from the Christian Science Text- book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary - Baker Eddy:--"Immortal man was and is God's image or idea, even the in- finite expression of infinite Mind, and immortal man is coextistent and coe- ternal with that Mind. The spiritual man's consciousness and individuality Mortal man are reflections of God. is the antipode of immortal man in origin, in existence, and, in his reia- tion to God. Man's Agenuine selfhood is recognisable only in what is good and true." (Pages 336, 215, 294).
