THE CHINA MÁIL'S 1930 LAWN BOWLS REVIEW
C. G. SILVA LEADS SKIPS Beaten Once Only, By Dallah, In 16 Games OMAR AND BRADBURY MISS GUTIERREZ THEIR LAST FOUR MATCHES
F.X. SILVA DROPS 12 PLACES IN THE TABLE
A
SHIELD
The Gutierrez International Shield series provided several amazing up- ficers' Club, who had not skipped pre-sets, first and foremost being China's
viously, surprised by losing only four
.
of his 13 games, whilst he was Re- win over the highly fancied Portu- medios' sole conqueror! Of last year's guese team.
I notice that regular skips
H. H. Pegg and A. W. Brown have made considerable progress, as did P. A. went up to Yvanovich, though he seventh, only one place, as a result of securing four more points--which seems hard!
COMPLETE SKIPS' RECORD
SKIP is often unjustly blamed if his rink loses just as in some cases he is given credit to which he is not due, but I honestly think that, taking match after match, it is the best player who comes out on top in the skip's table which has appeared each week in "The China Mail." It may not always be due to his individual skill that he finishes on top skips in the 1938 Lawn Bowls League: as such matters as temperament and ability to get the best out of his men count a good deal.
