BRITAIN'S TRADE DEAL WITH SOVIET EXPLAINED

VISIT TO KREMLIN
Moscow, To-day.
M. Sarajoğlu, the Turkish Foreign Minister, who has been waiting for some days before resuming the talks with the Soviet Government, visited the Kremlin at 3 p.m. yesterday.
Turkish circles yesterday afternoon expected to see the Soviet Govern- ment conclude an agreement last night; they were unable to reveal its nature-Reuter.
The Soviet refusal to deliver timber threatened to create a temporary dis- location of supplies pending the re- sumption of Norwegian and Swedish deliveries and the present arrangement rectifies this and ensures the supply other than via the Baltic.
The agreement has been hastened by, the need for obtaining timber from North Russian ports before they be- came icebound and the fact that Can- adian supplies were more difficult to organise owing to the length of the. sea passage involving a strain on | shipping and convoys,
