Both the Premier, Mr. R. G. Menzies, and the Defence Minister, Brigadier G. A. Street, told the Australian House of Representatives yesterday that no Australian expeditionary force would be despatched overseas at pre- sent, but the situation might be reviewed later.
At the end of November, said Mr. Menzies, 100,000 men In Australia would have received at least one month's training.
Brigadier Street said that the shifts and changes in the international situation were so extraordinary that no responsible Australian Government could pledge in advance what part the country would play.
