FATE OF WARSAW STILL IN THE BALANCE

THE FATE OF WARSAW was still in the balance af
11 p.m. last night (6 a.m. Hong Kong time to- day).
Budapest had just quoted the Polish wireless as an- nouncing that the city was being heavily bomb- arded, but that German troops had not vet entered it.
The Polish wireless announcer exclaimed – "The city will be defended to the last drop of blood!”.

A special correspondent with Polish Army 'says' that the Polish Army began withdrawing, from Upper Silesia and Posnan Province on Mon- day. This section of the army has been bearing the brunt of a strong attack by mechanised troops, aero- planes and artillery,
The troops were withdrawn in- tact and the pace with which the withdrawal was made was un- animously' considered by neutral military observers as a brilliant achievement for the Polish army.
