HOW HONG KONG REACTED TO THE WAR DECLARATION
ALTHOUGH HONG KONG last night received the news of Great Britain's declaration of war on Germany without much manifestation of feeling, other than a sense of profound relief, there was some celebration of the momentous event in the hotels.

Several parties gathered in the "Gripps" until late
at night; singing patriotic songs. Total strang-i ers greeted one another and made up impromp- tu gatherings in the various bars.
U.S. TO INVOKE NEUTRALITY ACT

Shanghai, To-day. Heavy German concentrations of troops, artillery and aeroplanes are reported to be forming in Silesia, according to telegraphic information reaching here to-day. This is believed to be the prelude to the greatest German offensive. since the outbreak of the aggres- sion on Poland.
The Germans continue to make aeroplane attacks on open towns, despite Hitler's promise to bomb nothing but military objectives.
German 'plane losses to date. are reported to be 64.
