TO CLOSE

London, To-day.

On the Stock Exchange, most groups closed rather easier after a quiet session, in which even the announce- ment of to-day's closing of the markets failed to cause [any material selling.

Latest developments in connection with the international crisis adverse- ly affected sterling, which closed at 4.285 in terms of the American dollar, compared with 4.395 on Wednesday.

The crisis has been responsible for an increase of over £20,000,000 in the Bank of England's note circulation, which, at £529.5 millions established a new high record.

Wall Street was easy.

The Stock Exchange in London is closing to-day in order to facilitate the Government's evacuation scheme. The reopening will be announced later.-Reuter.
