SITTING DOWN GRACEFULLY

When you sit in a chair have the lower back pressed firmly against the back of the chair, the feet uncrossed but in re- laxed position. The hands may lie in the lap. Jean's arms are crossed in the pic- ture so as to show you that she is sitting back in the chair.
A good many girls look at them- selves in their mirrors when they are standing up ready to go out, and feel that they approve of their stand- ing posture. They also frequently watch themselves in shop windows as they pass and feel that they walk well.
But how many of you know how you look when you sit down?
Do you bend forward
over your
plate at the table? Do you lean your elbows on the card table when you are playing bridge? Do you hunch
your shoulders over your typewriter time sitting and what you are doing
or desk?

as a child. If your eyes need to be fitted with glasses, have this attended to at once; but by all means overcome this unattractive habit.

Hold your head up and your chin
The double-chin menace may come to you when you are quite young if you do not pay careful attention to posure. A clean-cut chin line is a mark of beauty and you can't afford not to have one. And fortunately you can acquire one with much less. effort than it takes to get rid of a large abdomen.
Because multiple chins эге the result of bad posture you must learn to hold your head high so that your chin is horizontal, your neck straight, your chest elevated and your shoul- ders well buck.
If you are easily frightened do not watch yourself in the mirror when: you do exercises for riding yourself of the extra chins.
We have what we sometimes call the English bulldog exercise for the under chim: Thrust out your lower- jaw like this breed of dog, as far as it will go. Then bring it back and repeat. Feel the pull of the muscle- under the chin.

Lets discuss a slimming-die to-day. of crisp bread with a scraping of but- I wouldn't mind betting that the question in your mind is: "Do I have to diet all my life?" And the answer is No. At least, not strictly. It you want to keep well, not only slim, you will be careful always of your menus-that's only common sense.
The first point to remember is that it doesn't matter how much you eat- it's what you eat that counts.
