RUMANIAN-HUNGARIAN TRADE NEGOTIATIONS OFF: BORDER SHOOTING
Bucharest, To--day. Following the clash between Rumanian and Hun- garian frontier patrols at night time on the banks of the Tissa, the Rumanian Government is reported to have decided to break off the Hungaro-Rumanian trade negotiations. The negotiations opened at Sinaia a few days ago after months of difficult preparatory work.
Resumption of the talks has now! been postponed indefinitely.
The Rumanians declare that Hungarian barges, contrary to the agreement, attempted to advance into the Rumanian part of the river. When Rumanian frontier guards ordered them to stop they refused.
The guards then opened fire and the bargemen fired back, receiving assistance from Hungarian river patrols.
