The delay in the arrival of the Empress of Asia, which left Hong Kong early this morning,-was-not due to the typhoon (as reported elsewhere), the "China Mail" is in- formed by the local offices of the C.P.R., but was due to pressure of work at Shanghai.

The P. and O, 8.8. Soudan has been delayed; she is now expected to arrive here from Japan and Shanghai on Sunday, July 23.
