Anglo-French Parliamentarians Support China

Seeking Solution Of Far East Problems.

London, To-day.

All parties of both Houses of Parliament were re- presented at the Anglo-French parliamentary meeting in the House of Lords yesterday, last- ing over an hour and a half.

The French representatives consisted of members of the Franco-Chinese Committee, and they came to London at the invitation of Mr. Philip Noel-Baker, the Labour M.P.

EXTRAORDINARY CHARGE BY NAZIS AGAINST BRITISH CONSUL

Mr. Arthur Greenwood (Labour) asked in the House of Commons yesterday whether attention had been drawn to official charges of espionage by the German Govern- ment against the British Govern- ment in general and against the British Consul-General in Vienna in particular.

An official statement declared that great sympathy was expressed with the sufferings of the Chinese peo- ple and great admiration at their gallant resistance..

Object of the meeting was officially declared to be to discuss ways and means of finding a solu- tion of present problems in the Far East.

Two main proposals were put forward as possible remedies should Japanese interference with foreign rights continue.

KAO SH.NG-PAO SET FREE IN SHANGHAI

Shanghai, To-day. After spending two weeks in custody because of Japanese alle- gations that he was connected with guerilla forces in the Shanghai area, Mr. Kao Shing-pao, million- aire owner of the Lido Ballroom, has been released.

It is understood, says the "China Press," that the Japanese were unable to produce sufficient prima facie evidence to warrant the Settlement police handing him over.

During his custody, Mr. Kao was questioned on several occa- sions by Japanese officers. Reuter.
